The Gospel WeatherVane Silver
Dollar City Theme Park's new $6 million Giant Swing ride and
attraction comes with a few Gospel twists. Atop the giant barn is an
equally giant 10 foot, handcrafted copper rooster weathervane weighing over 300
pounds. Apparently, in days gone by, it was customary for families to tuck
a message inside their weathervanes. Often it was a family motto, prayer
for good weather, or call for blessings of one sort or another. According
to the park's General Manager Brad Thomas, "We decided to put a scripture
in ours, which is 1st Corinthians 13." As Thomas explained at a
kickoff event where intrepid media types were challenged to try the ride,
"That's of course the love chapter because that's what we as a company try
to live up to, to show the love of God to our staff, and to our
guests." Silver Dollar City's love reach goes far; as the park's
Branson creators Jack and Peter Herschend are also owners of Dollywood,
in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Stone Mountain in Georgia, Ride the Ducks all
over the country, Dixie Stampede, The Showboat Branson Belle, and Celebration
City, putting their Herschend Family Entertainment Corp. at the top of the
theme park industry. And there's yet another Gospel twist to this new
ride; the story, theme and surrounding attractions were all designed by a young
woman named Genesis. (Genesis Estes).

Branson Gospel Get-Togethers:
Here's one of the most exciting things God is
doing in Branson! Many gospel get-togethers take place in Branson theaters on Sundays, where visiting tourists join local entertainers and area Christians in music, worship, testimonies, and sometimes even
preaching! Don't miss out on these good times in the Lord!
Scroll Down for a list of these Branson Theatre Gospel Get-Togethers
One of the most amazing things God is
doing in Branson takes place in the town's music theaters on Sunday
mornings. Several open their doors to free Gospel music get-togethers,
'Ozarks style," often featuring Branson entertainers and
musicians. Tourists pack them out, eager to take advantage of the free
"show". In this relaxed, vacation atmosphere, visitors are
likely to see some of their favorite entertainers making music to the Lord, or
sharing a word about their faith. They mix with other tourists and local
Branson Christians. In short, they get The Gospel. For some,
it's the first time, surely for others, it's the last. But here's the good
news: over the years, multitudes have come to know Christ inside those Branson
theaters.
As far as your church group is concerned,
these Gospel get-togethers are not to be missed. How complete can a
Branson getaway be without getting at least a glimpse of what God is doing here
locally? Here is the chance to meet Christians from all parts of the
country, as well as make friends with local Branson Christians.
But most importantly, it's a front row seat to a marvelous thing God is doing
here, a chance to see the real reason why people from all over the country one
day find themselves suddenly attracted to Branson, Missouri!
